So much has happened!

Well it's been a while and so much has happened.  We took our 7 hour flight to Georgia and it went pretty well.  Eve had her little video player and she watched about 2 hours of cartoons.  The rest of the time I spent entertaining her and I'm sure the rest of the people in our aisle as well.  Anywaz, the month long trip to Georgia was a blast and a long time coming.  Seth hadn't visited my family in about 2 years and Eve hadn't been there in about a year.  So everybody got caught up, Seth got to drive a ditch witch for my brother, Brandon, and all was well in the South. My brothers are determined to country-fi Seth if it's the last thing they do.  Seth enjoys every minute of it!  We all  got to play a fun game at the table with Seth it was "lets find all the words that sound alike even though they are completely different words".  It was awesome!  Seth was just blown away at how the southern accent can distort anything.  Here are a couple of examples for you to try out:  "well (like you get water from) and a whale (like in the ocean)" oh yes, the way my dad pronounces them they sound like the exact same word.  "windy and wendy (like the girl)" and last but not least "sail and sell".  Very fun game that put Seth at the center of attention for once.  Everyone was like "Seth say it again, how do you make those words sound different?"  Usually it's everyone asking me to repeat my accent, but for once his Northern ways took all the attention.
The last day of our trip I talked with a friend from our church and she told me about what was going on in Lakeland, Florida, so we just had to go.  The revival going on down there can only be described as heaven opening up over Florida.  It was amazing and I'll have to dedicate a whole nother entry to that.
Anywaz, my cousin, Leah and I were discussing trading children over the summers in the future before I flew out and she actually took me up on it.  About 2 weeks ago she sent her 10 year old daughter, Tasia, out my way for a whole month.  I get to keep her till June 20th and let me tell you wow.  10 is so different from 3.  I mean she wants to interact with me like an adult and it throws me off every time.  I think by the time I get use to it she will already be on her way back to Georgia.  So life is good and I'll try to update a more often.  Until then be blessed.

"Keep on truckin"

My daughters desire to obtain a huge car collections cracks me up.  She loves shoes that clack like every little girl does, however every trip to the toy store produces a resounding yelp for a new car. Trains, cars, trucks, anything with wheels that moves is her obsession.  I did not fully realize how limited her toy selection was until she had a friend over to play and every toy they pulled out of her toy box was another type of car.  I see a tom-boy in the making and it makes me smile.  Life is good and God is amazing.  His banner over me is love and I am so excited to see the new directions He is taking Eve and I on this journey of Motherhood.  Until next time.

Flying High in the sky with a toddler

Well the time has come to take our annual trip to Georgia and I'm a little nervous about it this year.  Eve is now 3 and a hand full on the ground much less in those cramped tubes they like to call airplanes.  My friend Alicia recommended her tried and true remedy: "Always carry $20 to buy the people around you drinks if your kid gets rowdy and fussy."  I laugh, but I'll probably bring the money just in case.  Things I've learned as a Mommy . .. always be prepared even when you don't think it'll happen, because it usually does (smile).

I can't wait to see my family, it's been way too long and my "southern roots" are pulling me homeward bound.  I always enjoy the visit, but it's coming back home to Oregon that makes me smile.  It's crazy that after living in the south for 20 years my accent can fade away and upon a short visit it returns in a flash.  So when I return to the great North West I get the best looks from my fellow Oregonians.

Life is good, God is great!  Until next time . . . be blessed.

My Space vs. Xanga

Wow it's been forever since I've said anything so here goes.  So my cousin, Leah, recently talked me into creating a "my space" site.  So I did and it made me miss the whole Xanga world.  I think I enjoy Xanga more because it is more friend oriented and less I wanna make friends.  Not that I want to be friendless, but I enjoy knowing what is going on with everyone vs. knowing how many "friends" someone has.  I kept visiting peoples pages on "my space" and being seriously disappointed when they hadn't blogged since they started their page.  It's a good place for me to put up pictures and let my family see how we've grown.  Anywaz, enough raging on "my space".  It's good to post and be heard by those that wanna hear (smile).

Hello everyone

Just a quick little post to say "hello all".  Dear friends in Texas, we miss you much and think/discuss you often.  Dear friends from TM days, are you all married yet?  I'm guessing, yes, and to one another.  Do you have any kids?  Do share if so.

Caroline is doing well.  She's a great Mommy.  Call her at 360-241-8313 if you'd like to chat.  I'll let her share her own stories.

Eve is two and turning three in September.  She is very funny.  She chatters unceasing.  Her favorite word is "why" because it always demands a new response.  Loves toy cars, pushing her stroller, picking up her cat (which is against the rules yet will not relent).

I am also doing very well.  I love my family.  I love my church.  I love my job.  We live in the most beautiful part of the country.  Don't believe me?  Just google Hood River, OR or Columbia River Gorge. The longer we're here the more we love it.  We bought a house a year ago and have renovated nearly every room since and now that the weather is nice we spend a lot of time outdoors.  In fact, I'm building a picket fence to help corral little Evie during my 5 day weekend.

In other news, Jeremy Riddle's album Full Attention is a breath of fresh air in the worship music scene.  Honestly, I tire of the CCM industry.  It pains me to turn the Christian FM station and hear such tripe.  But I digress.  I'm sure you nearly all agree.

Finally, who doesn't have Midlake's The Trials of Van Occupanther yet?  Audible candy.
